Removal of wisdom teeth

Most cases are routine but occasionally the tooth lies close to the nerve supplying feeling to the lower lip. In these cases most of the tooth above the nerve is removed leaving the rest in place – preventing damage to the nerve. This is called Coronectomy.

Post surgery X-ray showing result. Tooth remnant remains and over a 6 month period new bone is formed covering the root and filling the tooth socket.
